Water line work planned
WEIRTON - Crews from the Weirton Area Water Board will perform maintenance on a water line on Hillcrest Road Wednesday, which could result in low water pressure in the area.
Work is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., and will affect water pressure on Hillcrest Road, Lane J, Peak Street, Pikeview Road, the 100 block of School Street, and the 100 block of South 11th Street.
Temporary traffic delays also may be in effect for Hillcrest, Lane J, and Peak Street, with crews expected to place steel plating over the dig site.
Brooke County Libraries to waive overdue fines in September
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Libraries will celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month in September by forgiving eligible overdue fines.
The libraries currently do not charge overdue fines for books, audiobooks and CDs but do charge fines for DVDs. During September, patrons can have overdue fines forgiven as long as the materials have been returned or are returned the day they visit the library.
Library officials said the program is intended to help ensure community members have equal access to library services and information, including resources for employment, education and entertainment.

Franciscan students featured in new Hallow series
STEUBENVILLE -- Hallow is launching a new prayer series for college students featuring three Franciscan University of Steubenville leaders.
Beginning Monday, The Good Life will provide weekly prayer, reflection and practical guidance on topics including prayer, friendships, loneliness, anxiety and peace. The series is led by Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, university president; Heather Khym, director of Ministry Formation and Vision Integration; and Jake Khym, dean of Human and Spiritual Formation.
The series is available through the Hallow prayer app and is designed specifically for college and university students, although it is available to all Hallow users. Users can find The Good Life within the Hallow app beginning Monday.
The series builds on Franciscan University’s partnership with Hallow and Father Pivonka’s previous programming on the app.

Library to host adult craft class
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Library will host a free craft class for adults at 11 a.m. Sept. 3.
Participants will create DIY paper pumpkin stuffies. All materials will be provided, but participants should bring a glue gun and scissors.

Dungeons & Dragons classes offered
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Library will offer Dungeons & Dragons classes for middle and high school students on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m.
Library volunteer and Game Master David Nixon will lead the classes, teaching participants how to create characters, battle creatures and work together to complete adventures. No previous experience or equipment is required. Gaming dice and paper for taking notes will be provided.
