The Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators met at Eat 'n Park Restaurant in Weirton on Aug. 6, with co-presidents Ruth Fuller and Carolyn Allison officiating. Fifteen members attended.

Fuller gave the welcome and Allison lit the memory candle.

Chaplain Elaine McClung led members in the pledge, an inspirational reading, prayer and a blessing for the meal.

Member Shirley Washam updated the group on the Southeast Region Conference.

Allison and Fuller gave an update on the "Officers Executive 2026 report." During the meeting, they shared plans for the first year of the biennium, reviewed officer duties, shared the motto, reviewed the new Connect computer program, explained the planned folders, reviewed awards such as the Pearls and Violet awards and dues and discussed the Ohio Valley District Meeting.

Allison and Fuller will attend the Leadership Conference at Summersville Arena and Conference Center in Summersville. A report will be given at the September meeting.

Recording Secretary Patty Ferris gave the minutes for the June meeting, which were approved without changes.

Allison gave the treasurer's report in the absence of Susan Cullinan, and Corresponding Secretary Eileen Snyder gave a report on cards and letters given and received.

ADK Month Chairman Shirley Washam had no report. Altruistic Chairman Patty Ferris gave a report on volunteer hours, monetary hours and nonmonetary hours. By-Laws/Policy Chairmen Donna Durkin and Crystal Baranowski had no report.

Under publicity, Fuller shared that four newspapers are publishing the chapter's articles and thanked those collecting the articles.

Fraternity Education Chairmen Bonnie Queses and Nancy Conley presented a reading correlating a Snickers bar to the Fidelis Gamma Chapter.

There was no unfinished business. Allison discussed the new folders and motto for the biennium, and Fuller introduced the contents of the folders, asking members to bring them to each meeting.

Discussion was held on a new venue for meetings in October and November. A motion was made and seconded.

Fuller and Allison informed members that the organization will be responsible for the Ohio Valley District Meeting on Oct. 24 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Cumberland. The meeting will include a salad-plus luncheon. Five districts, along with state officers, will be invited.

The purpose of the meeting was to inform members of their biennium duties and expectations.

In addition to table decorations, members were asked to share a memory. Each member brought an antique to place on the table and shared the history of the item with the group.

August birthdays were shared for Nancy Deters, Donna Durkin, Elaine McClung and Nancy Holdsworth.

The next meeting will be Sept. 3. Hostesses will be Donna Durkin, Patty Ferris and Shirley Washam.

The meeting was adjourned with the singing of "The Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa."
