JEFFERSON COUNTY -- Several Ohio Department of Transportation construction projects are expected to affect traffic in Jefferson County in the coming weeks and months.

State Route 7
The SR 7 southbound on-ramp from Fourth Street in Toronto is closed as part of an 80-day slide repair project. The detour directs motorists northbound to the SR 152 exit before returning to SR 7 southbound. The project is scheduled for completion Aug. 14.
A separate project is underway to resurface SR 7 from Brilliant to Steubenville. Resurfacing work in Steubenville will be performed at night, while work between Steubenville and Brilliant will take place during the day. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction throughout construction. Completion is scheduled for Oct. 31.
Work also is underway to repair a slide along the northbound lanes of SR 7 just south of the Fourth Street exit ramp in Toronto. One lane of traffic will be maintained during construction. Completion is scheduled for Oct. 31.
Other state routes
SR 152 will be closed during daytime hours just south of Richmond Aug. 17-28 for multiple culvert replacements. The road will be closed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The detour directs motorists east on SR 646 to northbound SR 43, then back to SR 152. The detour is reversed for the opposite direction. School buses and emergency vehicles will be accommodated during closure hours. Completion is scheduled for Aug. 28.
SR 213 is closed for a 70-day project to realign a portion of the roadway south of County Road 56. The closure began June 1. Traffic currently is maintained with temporary traffic signals.
The detour directs motorists north on SR 7 to westbound SR 152, then back to SR 213. The detour is reversed for the opposite direction.
A chip-sealing preventative maintenance project is underway on SR 164 from Bergholz through Carroll County to Salineville. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Completion is scheduled for Sept. 30.
West Virginia traffic impacts
A portion of eastbound and westbound U.S. 22 in Brooke County, will have the right lanes closed between County Route 1, also known as Harmon Creek, and the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
The closures are part of concrete replacement and bridge cable replacement work. The project began March 23 and is expected to continue into fall 2026.
Motorists are advised to slow down and expect delays. ODOT said congestion also is expected on West Virginia 2 and SR 7 in Ohio.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution in work zones and allow extra travel time.
