Lola Atkinson, victim advocate for the Lighthouse, spoke with members of the Weirton Rotary Club during the club’s meeting Wednesday. The Lighthouse is a domestic violence shelter and advocacy program operated by CHANGE Inc. In 2025, the Lighthouse offered its services to 250 people, with 40 using the shelter. Atkinson noted 87 percent of those who seek help from domestic violence are female, explaining it is the leading cause of serious injury to women.
