Bad reaction: A city resident was taken into custody after he allegedly punched a security at Trinity West in the throat and another in the thigh Friday in the emergency department. Police said Timothy L. Ingram, 39, 544 Dresden Ave., was discharged and booked into the county jail without bond on two counts of assault. Medical personnel said they were preparing to medicate him when he "became irate," police report.
Grow up: Two people who caused problems at Wendy's Thursday were asked to leave for the evening. A female said the problem started when a male said she was cutting the line and she told him "she was unaware that he was in line." She said he "said 'excuse me' in her ear very loud several times and they both began arguing and calling each other derogatory names." The male said when he tried to tell her she'd cut in front of him "she began cussing and screaming at him" because he "didn't acknowledge her when she walked in" and at one point called her boyfriend "and was trying (get him to come there) to fight him."
Community concerns: Residents were concerned that "an intoxicated male was holding a firearm" Friday. He'd disappeared when police arrived but they did see a Budweiser can on the back patio. Police were told the man was seen "drinking out of a whiskey bottle and holding a black handgun" and then picked up the magazine and then racked the slide "as if he was chambering a bullet and put it back in his waistband." Police were unable to make contact with him.
Charged: Joseph Smarrella, 54, 2546 Devonshire Rd., Steubenville, operating a vehicle under the influence. Police said they spotted Smarella driving a Honda SUV "with a blown out passenger front tire" Thursday in the 3300 block of Sunset Boulevard and "saw sparks coming from the roadway" before the vehicle allegedly went left of center. He allegedly told police he didn't know he even had a blow out or had no idea how it happened, nor did he see the flashing lights on the cruiser or hear the sirens.
Multiple counts: William Lee Emerich, 52, 1335 ½ Euclid Ave., Steubenville, theft, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and contempt of court Thursday. Employees at Kroger told police they watched Emerich put meat in a black bag and then leave the store without paying and had a picture of him running out the door with the bag. Police said he ran but they eventually caught up to him at another business in the 200 block, with the black bag "placed neatly in a walk-in style dumpster."
Strane behavior: Employees at Planet Fitness said a male who'd been "acting strange" had asked them to call for assistance Thursday. They told police he'd been asking people for rides, then said he "was not okay" and to call 9-1-1. When the man told police he'd been at Walmart with a family member "and was left behind," they pointed out people were concerned for his well-being but he said he was fine and was going to walk home. Since he showed no signs of being in distress they sent him on his way.
Nuisance complaints: Callers reported a man laying on the sidewalk in the 100 block of N. 4th Street Friday. Police advised him to leave so he did, but only moved "further down the street." A few minutes later they were asked to return and this time told him he needed to leave the area, which he did.
Not getting message: A Rosswell Avenue resident said she and her fiancé are being harassed by a friend with whom she had a falling out. She said she'd blocked the individual and advised the individual she no longer wants to them contacting her but they continue to post messages on social media and text her.
Rehomed: A resident living on Crestline Drive at Central Avenue had problems with a "large snapping turtle" in the mulch by her porch Friday. Police took the turtle to the marina and released it.
Theft: An Oregon Avenue resident reported the theft of his child's 10-speed bike Friday. He told police the teal and white Weize 24-inch bike had been behind their house.
Repeater: A Woodland Avenue resident told police someone broke into her home while she was out Friday and stole "multiple pairs of shoes" and fiddled with an urn containing her cat's ashes. She believes an ex-boyfriend is the culprit. She said it's not the first time it's happened.

Served: Precious J. Turner, 43, 1303 Ridge Ave., Steubenville; Lillian D. Jackson, 29, 1413 Wellesley Ave., Steubenville; Matthew Mohoroski, 39, 121 Braxton Rd., Weirton, all served with bench warrants (Friday).
Cited: Jessica A. Zimmerman, 34, 101 Oak Valley Dr., Toronto, and Lake V. Hanning, 28, West Alexander, Pa., speeding (school zone).

Oh, poo: An Empire resident was upset Aug. 17 that a neighbor was allowing his dogs and cats to "run loose on his property and defecate." He also reported "copious amounts of trash" on the property.
Ex blues: A man in the 600 block of Two Ridge Road, Wintersville, told deputies a neighbor was "stomping around and keeping him up all night" Aug. 18. She said she was having trouble with the door of her dog's crate and the caller was "her ex-husband and they aren't getting along at the moment (so he) apparently felt the need to call...to mess with her." She agreed to be quieter but told them she doesn't call when her ex and his friends "are partying all night keeping her up."
Wired up: A semi struck a cable wire and pulled it down Thursday. The owner of a parked car said her taillight was damaged when the cable started "whipping" around.
Move along: A Richmond woman said her license plates were stolen Thursday. She said she and her boyfriend had been arguing and at one point he sent her a text that he was "messing with her vehicle."
Rancor: A Stratton business owner said he'd had dust up Thursday with a former employee he believes stole some of his tools. The caller said the man told him he didn't take the tools then claim he approached him anyway and "stated he was going to shoot him" so he punched him. He said the man repeated the threat so he punched him again
Damage done: A homeowner on State Route 213 said someone crashed a truck in her yard and was trying to flee but her husband had made sure that didn't happen. She said a "large amount of (their) fencing" was damaged."
Charged: Shyann N. Skinner, 22, 601 Two Ridge Rd., Wintersville, charged Aug. 18 with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
