The Fourth of July has come and gone, and I’m sure you had a great time celebrating 250 years of Freedom!
There is a different kind of freedom that we all need – and that is the freedom from sin and its consequences. The Word of God says in Romans 6:11-12, “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.”
We need to give ourselves to the Lord, so that we can refrain from the evil desires of the flesh. No longer do we need to be slaves to alcohol, drugs, sexual sins, and all the other weaknesses of the unredeemed flesh. In Christ we can forgive others and live in the peace of God. I have been hurt many times in my life but I have placed them all under the blood of my Redeemer! Not only do we have the privilege of living in a country that affords us civil liberty – but we are also blessed with the freedom from the guilt, dominance, and consequences of sin by the grace of our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!!
