BLOOMINGDALE -- Students in the cosmetology program are busy learning their trade, but seniors will have a chance to use their skills on the public when the salon opens Oct. 5.

Instructor Brianne Schoolcraft said the salon will be available Monday and Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. by appointment, and her 12 pupils will put their learning into practice with a series of services. Juniors will not participate at this time.

"This senior class had some work with clients last year, so we're rolling in with more experience this year," Schoolcraft said. "They will provide services with hair, skin and nails."

Seniors can provide everything from haircuts, perms and colors to facials and manicures to give patrons a true beauty experience.

Hair services include root touch-ups for $20; color for $40 and up; highlights for $30 and up; retouch and highlights for $50 and up; custom colors for $30 and up; additional color for $10 each; perms for $30; and spiral perms for $40. Hair designs range from haircuts for $15 and shampoo and style for $10 to special event and updo styles for $20 apiece. Patrons may also receive a facial for $20 or lip wax for $15, while nail services include polish only for $10, manicures for $15, gel polish manicures for $30, nail art for $2 and up, and paraffin hand dips for $5.
