STEUBENVILLE POLICE
Extremely bad break: An officer at a stop sign at South and Fourth streets reported seeing a motorcycle and a vehicle southbound on Seventh Street "at a high rate of speed" Tuesday. He followed the two of them and said the car had stopped and the driver was "throwing items from the vehicle." The driver, a woman, told police she was following her ex-boyfriend "because they are going through a bad break-up." Police couldn't locate him but she ended up picking up the items she'd tossed out of the vehicle.
Striking first: A Market Street resident claimed a female had tried to break his rear driver's side window following an argument on West Adams Street near Lawson Avenue Wednesday. He said he wanted to file a report because he thought she might file one relating a different scenario. Police said they didn't see any damage to his window.
Loading up: Three women, one of them a juvenile, loaded food and beauty products into a large black bag and left Kroger without paying Tuesday. The stolen merchandise was valued at $80, police said.
Theft: A trailer was reported stolen Tuesday from behind Once Upon A Child in the Tri-State Plaza.
Out of it: Callers requested police check on a man in a tan-colored vehicle parked in front of a gas pump at the midtown Speedway Tuesday. Police said the man "appeared to be sleeping" and, when stirred showed no signs of drug or alcohol impairment. Minutes later police were notified the driver struck a company vehicle and the curb as he left the lot, so they went to the driver's home and observed damage on his vehicle consistent with the damage to the company truck. The driver told police he was unaware he struck the company vehicle and he doesn't have insurance.
Booked: Donald Henderson 26, 503 Western Ave., Mingo Junction, warrant for failure to appear, Tuesday.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 1341 Ridge Ave., 1539 Euclid Ave., 714 Broadway Blvd. and 262 Hollywood Blvd.
