Silly: A couple having problems with two other individuals said they ran into them Thursday at a city business and the other woman's mother got involved, "calling her a (expletive) and the male with them kept staring." She said they parted ways after an argument, but as they exited the parking lot the others came out and "more words were exchanged" and when they got out of their car "the two of them were attacked." She had some facial injuries and police said the couple wants to pursue charges. As they were backing out they said a "man stood behind the vehicle, attempting to block (their car) in" and as they maneuvered to get out they bumped another vehicle.
Looking up: A Wilkins Street resident told police she thinks an upstairs neighbor she's had ongoing problems with "intentionally dumped water" on her head Friday. Police said as they approached they noticed an upside down umbrella with some water in it. The upstairs people said they were going out to get some food and accidentally bumped an umbrella that was holding water "but did not know anyone was underneath their porch staircase and did not intentionally dump water on anyone." Police told all involved to "leave each other alone," but the downstairs resident said she wanted to pursue charges. Police said that would be up to the prosecutor to decide.
Shooting star: Hancock County 9-1-1 asked police to look into reports that someone was "shooting firearms from a boat in the Ohio River." The boat was last seen north of the city, but when police checked the marina they didn't see any boats out.
Employees said a woman causing problems at the hospital was "moving chairs around the lobby and asking everyone in the waiting room for a ride to the shelter" Saturday. They said she could stay as long as she stopped asking for rides. The woman said she was "transported to the hospital against her will, sighed herself out and wants to leave." Police took her there themselves.
Caught a ride: A downtown resident said a woman with whom she's had ongoing problems "was standing on the side of the road yelling at her as she drove by" Saturday. As she drove to the police station to file a report she said the woman followed, "all while yelling" but disappeared before they could talk to her.
Kid problem: A Lincoln Avenue resident complained her son was "jumped" by multiple other boys Saturday. Her son told them he was in a one-on-one fight with another boy when "several others began beating him up," but when they asked him what other kids were involved he couldn't remember. He refused medical assistance and police told mom if he's in any more fights he'll be cited for disorderly conduct.
Predictable: A couple having a disagreement in the 4300 block of Southeast Drive "each made various accusations against each other" Friday. Police said each of them denied everything the other said.
Packs a punch: A Wintersville man arguing with his ex said she slugged him Friday. He said the ex hit his face and to avoid escalating the situation he left the residence and waited outside. He said he wasn't injured and didn't want to pursue charges.
Man in black: A man dressed in dark clothing was walking in the street on Sunset Boulevard near Langley Sunday. He was told to use the sidewalks and stay out of the roadway. Less than 10 minutes later they saw him in the street again, this time near S. Hollywood Boulevard. Joseph McShan, 35, 1216 Moreland Dr., Steubenville, was cited for a use of sidewalk violation, police said.
