Smoldering: Callers reported a burn pile left unattended at a dump site at 990 township Road 191, Wednesday. Last week, callers reported seeing a man known to them dumping refuse there, and said the same man came back and was burning the debris. When they saw smoke coming from the fire and no one watching it, the callers were concerned the community could be put in harm’s way.
Arrested: Kabarey K. Harris, 47, 744 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, driving under suspension and marked lane violation, Wednesday.
Arrested: Nicholas Bozman, 28, 211 East Road, Toronto, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, Wednesday.
Arrested: Jon T. Davis, 50, 3218 St. Charles Dr., Steubenville, bench warrant and failure to comply. Davis was also cited for DUS and unlawful plates.
Arrested: Michael L. Jett, 23, 733 Brady Ave., Steubenville, warrant for failure to appear, Wednesday.
Picture this: A business in the 2000 block of Sunset told police someone is filling their dumpster with old television sets, Wednesday. Police are reviewing surveillance footage.
Hurried departure: The owner of a U-Haul business at Seventh and Franklin streets said a man hooked a trailer to the back of his truck and left without being approved, Wednesday. The business owner said he’d gone inside to run the paperwork but learned the man was not allowed to rent a vehicle and when he went out to inform him, but he was already pulling out of the lot. The man was driving a grey flat-bed Ford F150.
Missing money: A city resident told police he thinks a woman he just started dating stole money from his bank account, Wednesday. The man said he’d given the woman his pin number to get food, and since then there were more than 30 transactions he didn’t authorize. He said more than $2,000 is missing from his account.
Just helping: A man in the 1000 block of South Third Street complained to police his neighbor had opened a package shipped to him by Amazon, Wednesday.
