Improper texts: Several juveniles in the Edison district were sending and receiving inappropriate texts involving genitalia, Thursday.

Bumbling: An intoxicated woman in Amsterdam missed a step and hit her head, Friday. The woman's nose bled after the fall, deputies said.

Cat fight: A caller said a neighborhood dispute in Richmond over feral cats turned into an assault, Wednesday. The caller said her new landlord doesn't allow pets so she'd been returning to her former residence to care for her cats while she makes arrangements with the Humane Society to re-home them and strays are also coming around, prompting a neighbor to scream at her to "stop feeding the cats." Another said if she didn't stop, she'd "bring her .22 up here and there won't be anything to feed." That woman also shoved the cat food off the table, hitting the victim's 20-year-old cat in the face, then "got in her face, cursing her and punched her in the face," she told deputies. The older woman denied striking the cat and said she'd made "very light contact" with the victim's face, but only because she'd felt threatened because the victim had shoved her. The older woman also denied threatening to shoot the cats. Deputies said video and audio footage of the altercation confirmed the caller's account, showing the older woman getting in the cat lover's face, "invading her personal space" and prompting the cat lover to push her away.

Steubenville police

Help wanted: A woman who'd called a family member to say she was "cold and alone" on a bench at Steubenville Marina told police she was fine when they came to check on her, Thursday. They said the woman told them she was only in "this town" due to being "hassled and arrested, then kicked loose from jail." The woman told police the last thing she needed was their help, then called the family member again to berate her, saying she no longer needed a ride because "a man" is coming for her.

Cause and effect: Police searched a vehicle after a man ran into a local market saying he needed to hide because someone was trying to shoot him, Thursday. The business owner called police and provided a description of a vehicle believed involved, but said the man who'd sought refuge fled because he thought there might be a warrant out for his arrest. When they located and searched the vehicle, police said there were no weapons in it or on the driver, who told police the man had broken into his residence several days earlier and stole some things, explaining why he ran.

Ex out: A Canton man told police his ex had used his name to get a credit card, racking up $450 in charges, Thursday. The man told police his mail had been going to the woman's residence, so he didn't find out until he changed his address and the credit card statement was delivered.

Surprise visit: A man told police he returned to his North Fourth Street home to find two people he didn't want in his home sitting at his kitchen table, Thursday. He said the couple let themselves in and refused to leave until he called police.
