Arrested: Kayla R. Yost, 29, 2256 Main St., Wellsburg, driving under the influence, Saturday.
Steubenville police
Argument: A woman told police her live-in boyfriend and her son's live-in girlfriend were arguing and he took a baseball bat to the interior of her home, putting holes in the walls and doors. Several stair rails also were damaged. Police had to return to the residence a few minutes later for another disturbance, this one because the son's girlfriend thought she'd been locked out and broke the kitchen window.
Scam: A woman said a man she met on a dating site for the hearing impaired is threatening to come to her residence to get money from her, Sunday. The victim said she's already given the man about $10,000 to pay various bills and now he's demanding more money, threatening to come to her home if she holds out. She said they communicate by Skype and he's mentioned several different states but she doesn't know where he lives. Police said the phone number the two used to communicate was international.
Running in circles: A couple traveling from Pennsylvania to a birthday part in Steubenville got in an argument, when the woman accused her boyfriend of cheating on her, Sunday. The woman said her boyfriend drove her to the police station and told her to get out of his car, but she grabbed his car keys and started running in circles around the building. He told police he didn't want her back in his car.
Bad situation: A Euclid Avenue woman sitting in her kitchen with her head in an ash tray told police she'd taken heroin about 10 minutes before they found her, Sunday.
Battered: A man told police he was assaulted in the 300 block of South Third Street, Sunday. No further details were available.
Stop communicating: A woman said she and her juvenile daughter are being harassed on social media by a female known to her, Sunday.
Crossover: A man traveling west on Sunset Boulevard said another driver crossed the center line and struck his vehicle, then fled. Police said the driver's side rear quarter-panel of his vehicle was damaged. The other vehicle was described as an older model gold Lincoln four-door sedan.
Neighborhood envy: A woman in the 600 block of Jeannette Avenue said her neighbor was witnessed taking a flower bench from her porch, Sunday.
Arrested: Reginald Johnson, 44, 311 Summit Ave., Steubenville, domestic violence, Sunday.
Shadow boxing: Officers responding to a call about a disturbance in the 700 block of Rosswell Avenue located a man on foot who smelled of alcohol and told them nothing had happened, Friday. He was transported to a nearby residence where a woman told them he'd started arguing with her and tried to hit her but missed.
Convoluted: Officers on patrol in the vicinity of Slack and South streets said a man flagged them down and reported being assaulted in a nearby club, Friday. Police said the man couldn't identify his alleged assailant and had no obvious injuries, though he did smell of alcohol. They located a family member who said he'd been at the same club and his uncle had gotten into an argument. He said he wasn't involved in the disagreement, but as he was leaving five individuals he didn't know jumped him. The victim wasn't sure if he'd been knocked out but did have a large laceration across his upper lip that required medical attention as well as swelling above his eye, and his keys and cell phone were missing. Police later located the car at a gas station.
Walking papers: A man refused to leave the porch of a residence in the 600 block of McDowell Avenue because he wanted to retrieve his belongings, Friday. The woman who lived there told police he wasn't allowed in the residence again because of problems he'd caused the night before. She did agree to box his things and drop them off at his mothers' residence.
He said, she said: A man and woman in the 300 block of Woodlawn Road each claimed the other had assaulted them, Saturday. The man told police he'd allowed the woman and a male companion to stay at his place for a couple days, but she wanted to stay longer so she could charge her phone. He said when he told her to leave, she started hitting him and threatening to call police. Police said neither of them had visible injuries, so they stayed on scene until the woman left.
Bagged: A skinny white female wearing a hoodie and a mask walked into Dollar General off Sunset Boulevard with a large empty tote bag and walked out with a bag full of merchandise, Saturday. Store personnel said the woman fled in a black Jeep.
Stiff upper lip: Police following up on a 911 hangup discovered a man in the 200 block of S. Third Street who was bleeding heavily from his face, Tuesday. The man refused to talk to police.
Arrested: Candice Gampolo, 30, 430 Lawson Ave., Steubenville, warrant, Friday.
Arrested: Bruce Flenniken, 22, 177 Williams Boulevard, Wintersville, domestic violence and criminal damaging, Saturday.
Arrested: Matthew S. Simon, 34, 524 Mahan Lane, Follansbee, felony possession of drugs, misdemeanor possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, Friday. A caller had reported a man passed out in a vehicle parked in a lot in the 2300 block of Sunset Boulevard, but when police arrived on scene they said Simon told them he'd been dozing because he'd been up all night with a newborn child. He allegedly had a buprenorphine pill but no prescription, a small baggie with a light brown powder that later tested presumptive for fentanyl heroin, and a straw in his possession when he was taken into custody, police said.
Arrested: Roneal E. Buford, 27, 4328 W. Cullerton, Chicago, possession of marijuana, possession of drugs and criminal mischief, Friday. Buford was also cited for having an open container.
