Surprise: A woman returned to her residence in Cross Creek to find a man and woman had moved into her home while she'd been away, Sunday. Her uninvited guests said a man had rented them the place for $700 and they'd moved in some clothing, food and a few household items. He was able to provide officers with information that helped the woman who actually leases the property determine her ex-boyfriend was behind it. She told deputies he'd lived with her for about two weeks before she became concerned he was using methamphetamine and left for a few days. The man told deputies he'd like to press charges.
Loaded: A truck hauling a storage container knocked out phone lines in the 100 block of North Main Street, Amsterdam, Sunday. The caller told deputies the truck's cargo was tilted up, causing the damage.
Green thumb: Four marijuana plants were found growing inside a fence in a clearing on property belonging to the Jefferson County Sportsman's Club, Sunday. Two members of the club discovered the plants and contacted the sheriff's department. Deputies removed the plants, which will be destroyed.
Pilfered: Someone broke the driver side window of a Suburban parked on Ridgeland Drive, Toronto, Sunday. The vehicle was ransacked.
Disturbed: A man and woman arguing created a disturbance in Richmond, Sunday. The couple was gone when deputies arrived, but a handful of people watching a boxing match on TV who were drawn outside by their yelling were still on hand. No one admitted seeing anything and deputies said one of the bystanders became confrontational when he wasn't allowed to go inside and get another beer, telling them it was his "constitutional right." One of the bystanders eventually told deputies the man involved in the argument had yelled, "She hit me," before the two of them walked away.
Overdosed: A woman was found unresponsive in a Wintersville home, Friday. Deputies said a man who was with her told them they'd had a few drinks and tried to get a hotel room but couldn't so they went to a friend's home to hang out. The man said he went to get cigarettes and when he returned, discovered the woman had collapsed. He said he'd seen the woman take a Xanax before he left.
Brazen: Someone stole the catalytic converters from three commercial vehicles from a lot on state Route 43, Richmond, Friday. Deputies said the exhaust pipes on each vehicle had been cut with a saw. The missing parts were valued at more than $1,000.

Fight: A woman in the 2000 block of Chestnut said her boyfriend grabbed her by the neck and choked her, Sunday. She said she hit him in the face during the ensuing struggle, and he responded by punching her in the face, breaking one of her teeth. The woman's face was also red and she had a fresh scratch in the corner of her mouth, police said.
Ransacked: An Iva Way resident said someone ransacked two vehicles parked at his residence, Monday. The owner said one vehicle was parked on the street and another in the driveway. Both were ransacked and loose change was taken from both, along with a bag of tools.
Booted: Someone kicked in the back door of a residence in the 700 block of Rosswell, Sunday. The resident said $200 in cash was taken.
Theft: A city resident reported the theft of a PlayStation, Sunday. The owner said an individual showed up at the residence unannounced, and after some conversation asked the resident to make food. After leaving the room the resident heard the door slam shut and realized the game console and two controllers were also missing.
More thieving: A resident in the 2800 block of Sunset Boulevard said someone kicked in his front door and took $300 from his dresser, Saturday.
Entered: A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Yale Place was ransacked and items taken, Sunday.
Cited: Sara L. Martin, 40, 2813 Sunset Blvd., improper backing. Martin allegedly backed out of a driveway in the 100 block of Lovers Lane into the path of an oncoming vehicle, striking it on the front passenger side Saturday.
Cited: Blake A. Thomas, 19, 160 Crawford Ave., Wintersville, assured clear distance ahead. Thomas allegedly rear-ended a vehicle stopped on John Scott Highway to make a turn onto East Argonne Avenue.
Arrested: Roger Lee Davis, 28, 1232 Oakland Ave., Steubenville, drug possession, Sunday. Davis also was cited for no operator's license.
