Moving on out: A county resident needed help getting her two adult sons out of her home, Tuesday. The men had stayed with her so they could take classes for their addictions, but neither of them are following through with their rehab, and she told deputies responding to reports of a disturbance it is causing stress for her. The woman said she yelled at them to leave, possibly prompting a neighbor to call for help.
Complaint: A Toronto area woman complained to deputies because an Island Creek Township employee was cutting her shrubs back, Tuesday. She told deputies when she approached him, he turned the blade toward her but she was not injured. She also claimed the township was stealing from her and damaging her property. A township trustee confirmed an employee had been tasked with brush hogging township Road 376, and the worker said he'd been instructed to make sure sight lines were not obstructed. Deputies said they confirmed the worker had only cleared the sight line.
Dispute: Deputies were called to referree a dispute between a couple in the process of divorcing, Tuesday. The woman had shown up at their former residence demanding her children and possessions, and when she was told deputies could not enforce either without a court order she refused to leave. Both parties agreed she'd already been allowed to collect medications and essential items.
Risky business: Norfolk Southern reported a man lying on the river side tracks between Mingo Junction and Steubenville, Tuesday. Callers said the man was wearing dark jeans and a hoodie, but when they arrived on scene deputies said they couldn't locate him. A security guard told them he'd seen the man and advised him to leave the area.
Fireworks: A couple complained their neighbor was lighting fireworks and firing his gun out his back door, scaring their dog and keeping them awake all night, Tuesday. When deputies talked to the neighbor, he told them the couple leaves their dog out when they go to work and all it does is bark, which in turn makes his dog bark, so he cannot sleep after working night turn. He told deputies he tosses the fireworks out his back door as payback.
Arrested: Matthew Lanham, 48, 266 township Road 307, Wolf Run, failure to appear, Tuesday.
Steubenville police
Threat: A Market Street resident told police a female friend had threatened to put her in a body bag, Tuesday. The woman said the disagreement began when she called the other woman a crack head.
Rocked: A window was shattered in the 1600 block of State Street, Tuesday. Police said someone threw a rock through the glass.
Struck: A Lincoln Avenue resident told police her boyfriend struck her in the face when she told him she didn't want to do drugs with him, Tuesday. She told police the assault took place on Harding Avenue, but police said there was no visible injury.
Pumped up: Someone hit the gas pumps at a station on North Third Street, damaging two handles and snapping off a piece of plastic, Tuesday.
Arrested: Nichole Turner, 37, 1531 State St., Steubenville, failure to appear, Tuesday. Turner also was cited for driving under suspension and a red light violation.
Arrested: Donald L. Burke, 50, 411 Henry Ave., Steubenville, violating a protection order, Tuesday.
Code violations: Notices of violation were sent to owners of properties at 378 Westwood Drive, sofa in front yard; 723 Kendall Ave., litter; 2815 Sunset Blvd., trash on porch; and 1429 Euclid, trash and litter.
Arrested: Robert Love, 48, 617 Grandview Ave., Steubenville, petit theft and a warrant out of Belmont County, Sunday.
Arrested: Joshua Miles, 30, 215 Norris, Steubenville, warrant for failure to appear, Monday.
Arrested: Christopher Carmichael, 53, 806 Langford Dr., Steubenville, OVI, Sunday. Carmichael was also cited for a marked lanes violation and open container.
