Green Acres: Deputies had to use an electroshock gun to calm a man who became combative after smoking methamphetamine, Tuesday. Individuals who were present said the man had a pitchfork and said he would use it on police, but they were able to get it away from him. When deputies arrived on scene, they said he had a machete concealed in one hand and when they told him to drop it, he cursed them and made a run for it, eventually tossing it aside during the pursuit. The man tripped on a log, but when deputies attempted to handcuff him he continued to resist.
Fraud: A Rayland business owner said she found out someone was trying to order checks on her account when her bank sent her a notification of service, Tuesday. When she looked into it, she was told the checks had been ordered online and her account debited about $12. The check service said only the check register and checkbook cover had been mailed, so the rest of the order was canceled. Deputies were given four names, addresses and ISPs of individuals attempting to secure the fraudulent checks.
Homeward bound: A Dillonvale resident took exception to the former owner of a property he purchased trying to remove items from the property, Tuesday. The former owner had been served with an order of restitution Dec. 10, though he is disputing it. The new owner allowed him to take what he could gather initially and had told the man he could come back for other items, but a Dillonvale police officer reported the new owners changed their mind after the evicted man allegedly removed the well water pump from the basement.
