Shots fired: A Smithfield Township resident reported a shots fired incident, Tuesday. According to the report, the caller said his friend and girlfriend's son were turning around, and a neighbor fired three shots "near the truck" leading to a "small" argument. One of the individuals in the vehicle said they were going to the store and the road they were traveling on is one-lane with a turnaround at the end before the neighbor's property. That person told the deputy they heard the other individual yell "the neighbors have a gun" and heard the first shot, they quickly began turning around and heard the second shot, then had their head pushed down and heard the third. The individuals in the truck observed a male and female on the porch but did not see who was shooting. When the deputy made contact with the residents at the home, the man said it was him who was shooting at something "near (his) chicken coup." He said his chickens have been getting killed at night. He told the deputy he saw something near the coup and fired at it and the neighbor's truck came up the driveway at the same time, sped away, and a man walked up the driveway yelling about there being "a kid in the truck." The man told the deputy he was standing on the porch, pointing out the coups to the east. The deputy located shell casings, the location of which indicated the man was facing south when they were fired. The deputy also located two "disturbances" in the soil, each going north to south and containing a slug just under ground level, indicating they had been fired from the porch toward the road. The man was placed into custody and the firearm seized. William P. Fedorko, 51, 536 township Road 1187, Adena, was charged with felonious assault.
Body found: The sheriff's office assisted Steubenville police with a wellness check, Monday. According to the report, a family member of the resident who does not live in the area called because they had not been able to reach the resident. The report said the officers found the door to be unlocked and discovered the resident to be deceased. The investigation was handled by Steubenville police and deemed non-suspicious.
