Wells township

Arrested: Steven Jennings, 57, 185 Norris Road, Rayland, was charged Thursday with operating a vehicle under the influence.

Steubenville police

Backed into: Police responded to a residence on Whitehaven Boulevard, Friday, in regards to a vehicle collision. According to the report, a man told police he and his wife were arguing and she told him to leave and that she wanted a divorce. The report said the man said he packed up his car and was leaving, and noticed her in her van. The man told police he pulled up behind her because he wanted to talk, and she backed into his car, causing damage, which the officer observed.

Punched: A man reported to the police he gave two individuals a ride on Friday and it ended in an altercation. According to the report, the individuals told the man they needed a ride to get diapers off of someone they knew, and upon arrival, the man witnessed them "doing a drug deal." The man told police he told them they were not welcome back in his car, leading to an argument. A male reached through the window of the vehicle and struck the man before he got out of the car and an altercation ensued before the man was able to drive away. The officer observed the man to have blood on his cheek, and the report was forwarded to the prosecutor.

Porch pirates: It was reported to the police that juveniles were seen stealing packages from a porch on the 1600 block of Oregon Avenue, Friday.

Crash: Police responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into telephone pole near the intersection of Logan and North Sixth Streets and leaving the scene, early Saturday. According to the report, police observed a "trail of fluid" and followed it to a vehicle with "heavy front end damage" on the 600 block of North Fifth Street. The report said police observed a male slumped over the steering wheel and woke him. The report said an alcoholic beverage was observed in the cup holder. The man told police he only had a couple of drinks at dinner several hours earlier and admitted to striking the pole, telling police he left the scene because he didn't think the pole was damaged. Police said they did not detect an odor of alcohol and the man passed a field sobriety test. The man was discovered to have a suspended license, the report said. While taking inventory of the vehicle to have it towed, the report said police discovered a small bag with a "white rock like substance" that tested a presumed positive for methamphetamine. Christopher Gulan, 49, 12012 county Road 56, Toronto, was taken into custody on charges of possession of drugs and conveyance and cited for driving under suspension and leaving the scene of an accident.

Fender bender: Police responded to a two-car collision in the intersection of state Route 7 and Third Street, Saturday. According to the report, the driver of one of the vehicles said the other vehicle was attempting a turn from state Route 7 onto Third Street and struck his vehicle where he sat at the red light. Police got similar information from the other driver and observed damage. Scott C. Farrar, 29, 59644 Cherry Hill Road, Byseville, was cited for turning at intersections.

Aggressive dog: Officers pursuing an aggressive dog that escaped a residence on Wellesley Avenue fired three shots at the dog as it charged them numerous times, Saturday. Eventually an animal control officer was able to take control of the animal.

Argument: Police responded to a residence on Cherry Avenue where a man told police he and his girlfriend were arguing over him being late for dinner with his mother, Saturday. The report said the man told police his mother then threw a vase at him, striking him on the hand. Police observed him to have two small cuts. The man's mother said she threw the vase, but not as him, damaging her microwave. Police observed the microwave's glass door to be shattered. The report was forwarded to the prosecutor.

Knife fight: Police responded to a residence on Pennsylvania Avenue where a man said his girlfriend came at him with a knife, Sunday. According to the report, the man said the female began to strike him during the argument and then grabbed a knife. The man refused medical treatment and did not wish to pursue charges.

Schoonover, 31, 320 South Fourth St., taken into custody on a bench warrant and criminal trespassing, Friday; Joyce Evans, 39, 947 Sherman Ave., taken into custody on a bench warrant for failure to appear, Friday; Tyler A. Ward, 28, 210 Madison Ave., Mingo Junction, charged with possession of drugs, Friday; Otis E. Allen Jr., 43, 503 McDowell Ave., taken into custody on a bench warrant for failure to appear, Saturday; Holly Claypool, 46, 723 Manat St., taken into custody for theft, petit theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, Friday; Jamie Blanchard, 40, 2729 Cleveland Ave., taken into custody for possession of drugs, Friday.

Cited: James S. A. Blackwell, 41, 711 Oakmont Ave., driving under suspension.

Arrested: Jeffrey A. DeLucas, 64, no fixed address, taken into custody for disorderly conduct and intoxication, Saturday.

Arrested: Joseph J. Smeaman, 36, 1257 Ohio Ave., Logan, taken into custody for possession of drugs, Saturday; Natalie M. Blasser, 29, 248 Old McArthur Rd., Logan, taken into custody for carrying a concealed weapon, Saturday; Donald C. Kumpf, 38, 337 Lee Second, Burgettstown, Pa., taken into custody for possession of drugs, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, Saturday; Myron Gibson, 38, 768 Commercial Ave., Mingo Junction, charged Thursday with failure to appear.
