Steubenville police

Pointed: A woman admitted stabbing her ex-boyfriend, but claims it was self-defense because he put his hands around her neck, Tuesday. The woman said the incident happened at her home in Weirton, but asked Steubenville police to intervene because her ex had brought their son home to a Rosswell Avenue location with him, and she'd followed them over. She said she wants to file charges, though police noted she had no visible injuries. When they talked to her ex-boyfriend, he said they'd argued because he didn't approve of his son being around her new boyfriend and said she'd tried to stab him in the stomach, but he used his arm to fend the knife off and it punctured his arm instead. The ex-boyfriend, who required treatment, also wants to pursue charges. Both were advised to talk to Weirton police.

Booked: Herbert Mayo, 52, 420 South Sixth St., Steubenville, domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia, a glass crack pipe, Tuesday. Mayo's girlfriend claims he got angry with her and pulled her hair, and when she tried to call 911, he grabbed her phone and threw it, cracking the screen. Mayo denied assaulting the woman, but officers said he seemed "highly intoxicated" and enroute to the jail allegedly said the woman "had something coming" when he is released, police said.
