Jefferson County Sheriff
Despicable: A Richmond man said his elderly mother was scammed, Tuesday. He told deputies she told him she’d found a number online where she could apply for a loan, and the man who answered told her he’d need her banking information. She gave him her account information and then discovered he withdrew the last $400 in her account.
Party’s over: A couple living together for the past three years was arguing, Tuesday. The male said the argument started after he found out his live-in was cheating on him and confronted her, but they both said it never became physical.
They separated for the evening.
Steubenville Police
Over did it: Callers reported a man was slumped over on the ground on Maryland and Ohio Street, Monday. Police said the man had fled when they arrived, but they located him heading north on Ohio Street. Police said Collin S. Gilmore, 22, 813 Oxford Blvd., Steubenville, was booked into the county jail on charges of intoxication and a probation violation. Gilmore was “very unsteady on his feet, his speech was extremely slurred and (officers) could detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage,” and admitted he’d been drinking, police allege.
Partied hard: Police checked the 200 block of North Court Alley for an intoxicated female, Monday. Bystanders said the woman walked south and “might have walked into” a residence on North Fourth Street, police said.
Charged: Patricia L.C. Hayes, 33, 1014 Adams St., Steubenville, was taken into custody on charges of OVI, failure to control a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia, Tuesday. Police allege Hayes was unsteady on her feet, her speech was slurred and she smelled of alcohol when they pulled her over after a moving violation. They said she admitted drinking a beer despite having taken prescription medications that warn against drinking alcohol or driving after taking them and claim they found a glass pipe in her purse.
Scrambled: Callers reported juveniles throwing eggs at vehicles on North Fifth Street at Ross Street, Monday. Officers didn’t observe anyone outside in the area.
Reported: A caller in the 100 block of Greenwich Avenue reported hearing three gun shots, Monday. A neighbor who’d been in the woods trying to get a cat out of a tree told police he didn’t hear any shots nor did they fire any weapons.
Jumping the gun: A man in the 400 block of North Seventh Street said someone was trying to move into an apartment before he was out of it, Monday. He said he and his boyfriend broke up and he intends to be out of the apartment by March 1, but a man who said he’d been paying rent on the place since January showed up and threatened him if he didn’t leave. The new tenant couldn’t provide proof he was renting the property but said he’d been dealing directly with the landlord.
He admitted he showed the other man his concealed carry permit.

Cited: Deborah S. Thompson, 68, 1293 Lincoln Ave., Steubenville, failure to yield/left turn; Jason M. Sandy, 41, 1385 Hardins Run Road, New Cumberland, no operator’s license.
