Feet don't fail me: A homeless man who has been living with his girlfriend in a tent "deep in the woods" behind Wintersville Nazarene Church told deputies a shotgun-wielding man dressed in camouflage "confronted him and was screaming at him to get off the property," Wednesday. He said he was gathering firewood when the man came upon him and began "cursing at him and seemed extremely agitated." He said he turned to walk away but as he did he "heard (camouflage man) fire two shots and … the birdshot hitting the trees around him" so he started running, figuring camouflage man had been hunting and he'd inadvertently scared whatever it was he was stalking away. Deputies told the man they'd file an aggravated menacing report but he needs to either get the property owner's permission to be there or leave. The man, originally from South Carolina, said he'd found a job and was already looking for a place he could put a camper his new boss said he could borrow until he's back on his feet.
Scaring the kids: A caller in Yorkville said there were "about eight people in the park making threats," Wednesday. When they arrived some juveniles on the basketball court pointed deputies to a couple sitting under one of the shelters and said it appeared they had been arguing over a bag they were carrying when the male "swung" on the female. The couple admitted they'd argued but denied that it escalated to a physical confrontation, reporting that the male had wanted his female companion to go with him to his parents' home but she refused "due to (them) not permitting her to be there." Deputies took each of them home and advised them to stay away from each other.
Door jiggler: A father told deputies Wednesday he let his two pre-teen sons stay at their home on Rustic Road, Steubenville, while he ran an errand and a man in a white truck came to the door and jiggled the handle, trying to get in. He said his eldest son told him when he went to the door to see what was going on "he saw the (male) run to his truck and leave." He said it happened Monday but he didn't report it right away because "he didn't believe his son at first."
Your brain on drugs: A U.S. Department of Defense employee told deputies he got a voicemail from a man claiming his ex's parents had an AirBnB where they were "chopping up bodies and burying them," Wednesday. Deputies learned from local police that the caller has mental health issues compounded by his use of illegal drugs.
Feeling threatened: A homeowner on township Road 233, Richmond, said his neighbor threatened to shoot his dog, Wednesday. He said his dog had wandered onto the man's property and startled him, and after the threat he wanted it on record in case "anything would happen to his dog."

Dumb and dumber: Callers have been complaints about a group of juveniles in the vicinity of Pico Park, Hollywood Boulevard and Holy Family Church "blocking traffic, creating dangerous situations by laying in the street and throwing rocks at cars," Wednesday.
Threats alleged: A city resident was taken into custody after a local business owner said he'd threatened employees after a disturbance in the store, Wednesday. Police said Robert Preston Turner, 208 Wilma Ave., Steubenville, was charged with aggravated menacing after employees complained he'd "threatened to kill them, and if he gets picked up by the police he will be out on bond and return with his people to take care of them." In addition to the menacing charge, police said Turner was served with an outstanding warrant alleging criminal mischief "
Let it go: A city resident said a man came up behind him and struck him twice in the head, Wednesday. He said it's been an ongoing issue since he took his assailant's cell phone a couple weeks ago and tried to redeem it for cash at the machine in Kroger. He said he told his assailant "he resolved the issue and made it right" but on several occasions since he's assaulted him. He said his assailant and his friends also had taken his cell phone and did not return it, but he didn't want to pursue it unless the problems continue.
Reported: A Chestnut Street resident allegedly called police to report his husband "beat him up and bit him," then hung up, Wednesday. Officers report they went to the home and "knocked loudly" several times with no response.
Property disputet: A resident in the 500 block of Lawson Avenue said she and her husband were arguing over property and it "escalated" to the point that he "grabbed her by the arm and held her head down on the bed," Thursday. She said he grabbed keys to one of her vehicles before police arrived.
Building struck: A motorist told police she thought her vehicle was in park and accidentally pressed the gas pedal, propelling it into the wall at the Walgreen's in the 4400 block of Sunset Boulevard, Wednesday, Police said "a portion of the brick (was) pushed inward."
Funny money: A clerk at Circle K, Lincoln Avenue, told police a customer paid with a counterfeit $100 bill, Wednesday. She said the man, whom she knows as "J.C." used the bogus bill to pay for an 85-cent fountain drink and she'd given him $99.15 in change.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 1315 West Adams St., mattresses and other debris piled on sidewalk; 1622 State St., front porch fille with "junk;" 744 Rosswell Ave., cardboard boxes and scattered garbage in rear of property and more boxes in driveway; 720 Rosswell Ave., litter and garbage piled in back yard; 309 Summit Ave., litter and junk piled on front porch plus a mattress in back yard; 1635 Roosevet Ave, car parts, tires, truck camps "and so much junk (police) couldn't list it all; and 1122 Arlington Ave. (rear), boxes and wooden crates in the yeard, a large box on the porch and "what appears to be a large fish tank" between the residence and a vacant property next door."
