Steubenville Police Beat down: A resident in the 400 block of Spring Avenue told police he was approaching another man with whom he’s involved in a “dispute over property” when the man got out of his car and “began to punch (him) in the face four or five times,” Sunday. He said he thinks the man “had brass knuckles on” during the assault. Police have pictures of the man’s injuries but said he declined medical attention and wasn’t sure if he wanted to pursue charges. Steubenville Police Charged: A city resident was booked into the county jail after his live-in companion alleged he’d slapped her face “and then grabbed packing tape and attempted to wrap it around her face to stop her from screaming,” Wednesday. Steubenville Police Cited: A caller reported seeing a man “following a (woman) walking with her kids,” Tuesday. The female who was being followed said he didn’t say anything to her or try anything with her or the kids. She said she had no idea who he was and lost sight of him in the 400 block of Logan Ave. Police said they spotted the man “stumbling in and out of the roadway” and reported he wouldn’t answer questions.
