Steubenville Police Staking a claim: A Ridge Avenue resident told police a female not known to them was “standing on the porch and refusing to leave,” Monday. The woman was sitting on a porch swing when police arrived and told them she was waiting for a ride. They told her she was on private property, and the homeowner wanted her to leave, so she did. Hit-skip: A resident in the 400 block of North Seventh Street reported hearing a loud crash outside her home, Sunday. Later in the day she discovered her car had been hit. Steubenville Police Pooh pile: A Wilkins Street resident was concerned because her neighbor sprinkled mothballs on his lawn and didn’t understand why he’d done it, though police immediately spotted a “vast amount of (dog) feces” in the area and weren’t surprised when she told them that’s where she lets her dog do his business, Sunday. Police said the pooch’s pooh was “on the street, sidewalk and adjacent property” and told her it’s likely why the neighbor had resorted to mothballs, which can be toxic to pets, for odor control.
