WEIRTON – The senior management team at Weirton Medical Center is making plans for the long term, hospital officials said Friday.
Recent expansion has led to the creation of 450 new jobs. That growth has allowed has been a part of making Vincent C. Deluzio’s goal of reviving WMC into a medical leader and Tri-State Area medical network become a reality.
Deluzio, managing director of R&V Associates, added the implementation of several new programs and new procedures, as well as major investments in technology and physicians, have laid the foundation for further growth.
With the opening of major projects, including the WMC Cancer Center and the new All About Women Suite, WMC is now focusing on the construction of its multimillion dollar Breast Care Center, under the direction of Drs. Carol Slomski, breast surgeon, and Eric Balzano, radiologist.
While work ramps up on the center, the organization has announced its long-term leadership team. That team includes John Frankovitch, a Weirton native who has been named chief executive officer; Charles O’Brien, former CEO and current executive consultant; David Artman, who has has been promoted to vice president of operations; Denise Westwood, vice president and chief nursing officer; Gene Trout, chief financial officer; Dr. Vardhan Reddy, chief medical officer; and Kelli McCoy, director of communications.
