WEIRTON — Serra Village Retirement Community continues its growth, providing expanded services and new facilities for area residents in need of elder care.
Officials recently unveiled Hope Cottage, the latest addition to the Weirton-based elder care provider.
The 14-room facility has a focus on memory care services, with a dual license in assisted living and Alzheimer’s care.
“We planned the project about two years ago,” Rhonda Quattrochi, administrator, said, explaining it came at a cost of approximately $1.2 million.
Each room in Hope Cottage is equipped with a bed, dresser and other necessities, as well as a private bathroom.
“We provide a basic set of furniture,” spokesperson Vicki Peckens said.
Hope Cottage also features a common room and an enclosed rear courtyard for residents to use.
Medical care and other services will be available daily, as well as a variety of activities provided by a full-time activities director.
“We have LPNs around the clock,” Peckens noted, explaining care from registered nurses and nurses aides also is available.
Hope Cottage was developed with assistance from architect Vic Greco of the Mills Group, contactor Vince Bruno and decorator Patrick Maloney.
It is the latest development at Serra Village, which originally opened in 1970, and has grown to provide several services and facilities to include skilled and intermediate care at Weirton Geriatric Center, assisted living at Serra Manor and the Garden Cottages, independent retirement apartments at Grandview Terrace, independent living apartments for those with physical disabilities at Chestnut Manor, and Alzheimer’s care at Golden Acres.
