WMC opens doors for new Wintersville facility
WINTERSVILLE — Weirton Medical Center Wintersville officially opened on Saturday with dozens of people receiving free blood screenings.
The facility, located on the first floor of Life Line Hospital, 200 School St., offers primary-care and specialty doctors, blood-screening lab, CT scans, ultrasound and radiology services.
Kelli McCoy, WMC director of communications, said the staff was overwhelmed with the people who showed up for the free blood screenings.
“We want people to be in touch with their bodies and health,” she said.
Primary care physicians at WMC Wintersville include Drs. Shaban Shoshi, Sanjay Gupta and Siripurapu Prasad and urologist Dr. Hardev Parihar.
McCoy said people are looking for primary-care physicians and facilities.
“The Weirton Medical Center network is working tirelessly to bring in doctors. Our motto is, ‘we have the docs.’ Your health starts with your primary care physician. We will find you a doctor quickly. We are excited to be able to get folks in quickly to see a doctor. More and more people are taking a very proactive approach to their health,” she said.
McCoy said the Wintersville facility has easy access versus a large hospital. There are ample parking spaces located close to the main door.
“We knew there was a need in Jefferson County. The crowd here today tells me there is a need and we are fulfilling it. We are excited about people saying their health is important,” McCoy said.
The Weirton Medical Center network has about 50 doctors in three states. People interested in finding a doctor can call the hospital at (304) 797-6DOC.
David Artman, Weirton Medical Center chief operating officer and executive vice president, said there are several phases of development planned at the Wintersville site.
The first phase is to open with primary-care and specialty doctors, with a blood-screening lab, CT scans, ultrasound and radiology services.
The second phase includes additional office space and more specialty and primary-care doctors, Artman said. He added physical therapy offices also will be added.
“We will be a one-stop facility offering lab blood draws, diagnostics and physical therapy for our doctors on an out-patient basis. We are really excited about locating a premiere medical facility in Jefferson County. This is a convenient location for Weirton Medical Center doctors,” Artman said.
Weirton Medical Center Wintersville is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
