WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Board of Education made it short and sweet at a special session held Tuesday.

The three-minute meeting addressed the hiring of a prevention resource officer at Brooke Intermediate North.

Interim Superintendent Jeffrey Crook requested the approval of the termination agreement between the City of Follansbee and the Brooke County Board of Education. The motion was passed unanimously.

The board will pay the City of Follansbee $7,5000 from Jan.1 to March 31 for the PRO officer at Brooke Intermediate North.

Effective April 1, City Officer Megan Himmelrick will continue to serve as a PRO at Brooke Intermediate North, but with the change in that she will be employed full-time by the Brooke County Sheriff's Department.

The board, Brooke County Commissioners and Sheriff Larry Palmer will continue to work together to hire and train, if needed, four more PRO officers for the remaining schools.

In addition, the board voted to approve the Memorandum of Agreement between the Brooke County Board of Education on behalf of the Brooke High School and the Health and Science Program, certificate nursing assistant program, and Brightwood Health Care Facility.

"This is so they know our expectations for our kids and we know theirs," said Crook.

The next Brooke County Board of Education meeting will be held Monday at 6 p.m.
