WELLSBURG -- Eight local entrepreneurs will take their shot to make their dreams a reality this Friday, as part of the fourth-annual Brooke-Hancock Pitch Contest.
The contest will be held beginning at 6 a.m. at the Brooke High School auditorium. It is organized by the Brooke County Economic Development Authority and the Wellsburg Chamber of Commerce.
The contest is open to any business in either Brooke or Hancock counties.
"It is for start-up or existing businesses both," Larry Swanson, of the Brooke EDA, previously explained.
Contestants will present their proposals to a panel of judges, representing local professions from throughout the Tri-State Area, who will then select a winner. Each pitch is set to be between five and 10 minutes long, with judges also providing feedback prior to selecting a winner.
Friday's contest will include a welcome, description of the contest process and introduction of the judges, followed by the business pitches, judging, recognition of sponsors and other and the announcement of this year's winner.
Last year's event saw seven area businesses competing, with the winner receiving $6,000.
