Firefighters training conference
Approximately 100 professional firefighters from across the state are in Weirton this week as part of the Professional Firefighters of West Virginia Training Conference, hosted by the Weirton Firefighters IAFF Local 948. The conference began Tuesday, and includes classes at on truck company operations, fireground survival, engine company operations and vehicle extrication, with instructors from Pittsburgh, Columbus and Lexington, Ky. Sessions are being held at Weirton’s fire training center on County Road, Starvaggi Memorial Park and the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Department. The conference concludes today. — Craig Howell
