‘Pixburgh’ at Science After Hours planned
PITTSBURGH — Carnegie Science Center will host an epic festival of everything “Pixburgh” at Science After Hours: Yinzer Friendsgiving from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.
The event is open to those 21 and older, and activities will include:
¯ Staff will fire a 10-inch, million-volt Tesla coil.
¯ The chance to show your creativity by helping to paint a Pittsburgh parking chair with a “Sci-yinzy” twist that will be displayed throughout the city.
¯ A test of bravery on the “jagoff drop” ropes challenge, climb a rock wall, and get physical at Highmark SportsWorks.
¯ The chance to dance to tunes by Pittsburgh DJ Dolo Solo in roboworld.
¯ A chance to nerd out at some comedic science presentations. Three self-proclaimed nerds will give short, comedic presentations about their scientific passions with a salacious, yet academic, vibe. It will feature “BS in SPACE: An Astronomical Adventure Through Cosmic Misinformation,” by Ralph Crewe, program development coordinator and host of SNaQ (Science News and Questions) podcast; “Computer Vision, Artificial Neural Networks and How the Brain Can Inspire A.I.,” by Rorry Brenner, robotics research scientist and Nerd Nite coordinator; and “Chinese Marriage Markets: A Guide on How to Find Your Adult and Woefully Single Child a Spouse,” by Nicolette W.M. Wong, an anthropology PhD student at the University of Pittsbugrh and Oxford-trained sociologist.

There will be a cash bar and Pittsburgh-themed food. Black and gold Pittsburgh-themed attire and sports jerseys are encouraged. Attenendees will be able to add a ticket for the Buhl Planetarium laser show for just $2.
The price of a ticket is $15 in advance at carnegiesciencecenter.org, or $20 at the door. An adults-only exploration of 40 real mummies and 85 related artifacts from across the globe in Mummies of the World: The Exhibition is available for an additional charge of $12.50.
