COVID testing set in Hancock County

NEWELL — Area residents will have another chance to be tested for the COVID-19 virus, as part of a continuing initiative to increase testing opportunities for minorities and other at-risk populations in West Virginia.

The testing will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 26 and 27, in the parking lot of the Harv at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort. It will be both drive-through, and walk-up, according to information from the Hancock County Health Department, which is assisting with the testing.

The testing is being held in cooperation with the Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs, with support from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and the West Virginia National Guard.

Testing will be free and open to anyone wishing to receive one. No proof of insurance is required, but those wishing to be screened are asked to bring proof of identification. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to be tested, and residents are asked to wear a mask or face covering to the testing site.

Testing also will be conducted in Huntington and Williamson on those days.
