Mary H. Weir Public Library plans phased reopening
WEIRTON — The Mary H. Weir Public Library will begin offering services to the public, as part of a phased-approach to reopening.
Limited services will relaunch Monday, according to Library Director Rik Rekowski, who spoke via teleconference during this week’s meeting of Weirton Council.
“We are going to provide services by appointment only,” Rekowski said.
Services set to be available to the public, by appointment, are notary services, printing, computer internet access and fax services.
The library also will have limited hours of operation for these services, with plans to be open Monday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Rekowski also announced a virtual summer reading program will launch June 29.
“This will be something very new, working with the public virtually,” he said.
The library closed March 16 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
All programs and meetings held at the library also were suspended at that time.
Library staff have been available to maintain network operations and assist with access to online virtual library services, by telephone or electronically.
The library also has suspended acceptance of any donations of physical materials, such as books, CDs, DVDs and archival materials.
