WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Sheriff's Department has charged a Wellsburg man with domestic battery and strangulation and another Wellsburg man with sexual assault and abuse in two separate cases pending in Brooke County Magistrate Court.
Kody J. Carroll, 32, of Apartment A7, 107 Blue Ridge Manor, faces the domestic battery and strangulation charges in connection with an incident at his home on Sunday.
According to police reports, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Carroll's home after a woman there dialed 911 for help.
They said the woman told them Carroll dragged her across the floor, pushed her onto a bed, struck her in the face and head and attempted to strangle her. The deputies said the woman had a bruised neck and arms and lacerations to her lips, knees and elbows.
In the other case, Hunter E. Sayre, 21, of 55 24th St., has been charged with second-degree sexual assault and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
He has been accused of forcing a minor known to him to have sexual contact with him on one occasion and touching her breasts on two others.
