NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Hancock County Board of Education approved several personnel moves during its meeting Monday.
Resignations were accepted from Stacie Grishkevich and Wendi Mitchell, multi-categorical teachers in the district; Marlena Sell, music teacher, and Christina Conforti, fifth-grade teacher at Weir Middle School.
The board elected to hire Kristen Malinowski, multi-categorical teacher at Weir High School; and the following three teachers at Weir Middle School: Keith Brammer, social studies; Francesca Capaldi, fifth grade; and Travis Strader, multi-categorical.
Amy Wilson transferred from New Manchester Elementary to Allison Elementary as a teacher; Jennifer Cooper as a multi-categorical teacher at Oak Glen High School to the middle school; and Melanie Woods accepted an assignment as a social studies teacher at Oak Glen Middle School.
Lucas Flaus will coach golf, Capaldi volleyball and Macey Gump (pending certification and fingerprinting) assistant cheerleading at Weir High School. Lonna Flowers was named the head cheerleading coach at Oak Glen Middle School.
Terry Rea resigned as an assistant football coach at Weir High School and Mackenzie Sims as an assistant volleyball coach at Weir Middle School. Also leaving the district were Paula Cline, aide at Allison Elementary School; Jerry Shumate, bus driver; and Sharon Droppleman, ECCAT/AM at Weirton Elementary School.
Cathy Markowicz and Jessica Adams joined Allison Elementary School as supervisory aides, and Dianna L. Wysocki was hired as a custodian at Weir High School.
Richard Kaczmarek was hired as a substitute bus operator.
The district also approved a contractual agreement with Weirton Heights Daycare and the Children's Academy for pre-kindergarten education for the upcoming school year.
The Hancock County Board of Education will hold its next regular meetings at 5 p.m. Sept. 14 and Sept. 28 in the John D. Rockefeller Career Center in New Cumberland.
