All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton to host one-day, takeout-only food festival

WEIRTON — All Saints Greek Orthodox Church will host its 33rd-annual Greek Food Festival on Sept. 25.

The one-day event will be a pre-order, pre-pay, take-out only event, with pick up of orders at the new food booth in the church parking lot. Orders will be available for pickup from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

As with years past, the festival will offer homemade Greek foods and pastries.

Among the offerings are three dinners, with a selection of either fish plaki, roast lamb or roasted lemon oregano chicken. All dinners include rice pilaf and Greek green beans.

In addition, a selection of a la carte items will be available, with grape leaves, pastichio and spanakopita. The church is planning to prepare 1,200 super gyros to help meet the anticipated demand. Church members also have prepared 3,200 pieces of baklava and 300 dozen koulourakia, or Greek twist cookies, for those looking for baked goods.

Online orders can be made from 9 a.m. Friday through noon Sept. 23, or until the food is sold out, by going to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church website at www.allstswwv.org.
