NEW CUMBERLAND -- Hancock County high schools will be in remote learning for Thursday.
The decision follows the county being categorized as “red” on the state Department of Health and Human Services COVID map.
According to a posting on the Hancock County Schools’ website, Wednesday, “With Hancock County designated as “RED” on today’s West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services (WVDHHR), map, high schools will move to remote learning on Thursday, January 28″
With Hancock County’s remote learning program, high school students follow their regular schedule, beginning with their first-period class and remaining until dismissal time. Attendance will be taken for each class.
Weirton Madonna High School announced it too will be using remote learning Thursday.
The change will not affect the county’s elementary or middle schools, which remain on a hybrid schedule.
