Chester residents gathered Monday morning as part of the first of two Memorial Day services held for the community. Organized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6450 and American Legion Post 121, the first service was held along Carolina Avenue, with the placement of wreaths at monuments located at the halls for each veterans’ organization. The second service was held at Locust Hill Cemetery, with Del. Pat McGeehan, R-Hancock, serving as guest speaker. Mayor Ken Morris was master of ceremonies.
