WELLSBURG -- An indictment against a Wellsburg police officer accused of possessing child pornography has been dismissed, but it's not clear if charges against him will be dropped. Special Prosecutor Gail Kahle filed a motion to dismiss an indictment against Jonathan Griffin, on the grounds "certain information presented to the Brooke County Grand Jury on March 7, 2022, may not have been factually accurate."
Approved by Circuit Court Judge Ronald Wilson, the motion was entered "without prejudice," meaning the case could be dismissed or refiled, but Kahle couldn't be reached for clarification.
Griffin was placed on administrative leave from the Wellsburg and Follansbee police departments following his arrest by the West Virginia State Police in August.
