As guest speaker for Wellsburg's National Day of Prayer service, the Rev. Sharon Watkins, former general minister and president of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), called upon all Americans to turn from the hatred expressed by many through social media and seek to be the peacekeepers Jesus Christ referred to in the Sermon on the Mount. The prayer service, which included a lunch for attendees, was held on the Town Square by the Wellsburg Kiwanis Club and mayor's office and also included prayers by the Rev. Tim Kelley of Wellsburg and Franklin United Methodist churches.– Warren Scott
