Weirton issues traffic reminder for Saturday festivities

WEIRTON – The City of Weirton has issued a traffic reminder for Saturday concerning the community’s Independence Day Parade and Weirton’s 75th anniversary celebrations.

The parade, organized by the Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation, will begin at 10 a.m. along Main Street.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., traffic will be shut down on Main Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Lemoyne Avenue. Those closures will extend through the end of the parade. In addition, the intersections of West Street and Virginia Avenue, Cove Road and East Street and Cove Road and Weir Avenue will be closed to traffic during this time.

During the city’s anniversary celebration, which begins at noon and lasts to 10 p.m., north- and south-bound traffic will be closed on Main Street from Cove Road to Marland Heights Road, with traffic also closed at Lee Avenue and East Street and East Street and Cove Road.
