NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Hancock County Sheriff's Department has issued an arrest warrant for the individual suspected of a hit-and-run incident last week which resulted in injuries to a Weirton youth.

Paul White of Weirton is wanted in connection with the incident, according to information released Tuesday morning by Sheriff Scott Gittings.

If anyone has information on White, they are asked to contact the sheriff's office at (304) 564-3911, or through the county 911 center at (304) 564-4100, or through the sheriff's office tip line.

The search is the result of an incident Friday afternoon in which JoJo Green, 7, was struck while riding his bicycle on Kings Creek Road. Reports indicate the individual was driving a motorcycle and left the scene.

Green was transported by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh-area hospital.

According to Gittings, the investigation led to a search Tuesday morning by Ohio County deputies and Special Response Team of a building at 927 Technology Drive in Triadelphia, where a motorcycle believed to have been involved in the incident was recovered, along with a broken headlight which had been removed from the motorcycle.

White reportedly had been staying at the Triadelphia residence where the search was conducted, according to Gittings, but was not there at the time of the search.

Gittings offered his appreciation to Ohio County Sheriff Tom Howard and his deputies, as well as Weirton Police Chief Charlie Kush and his officers, for their work as part of the ongoing investigation.

"There were many members of the Weirton Police Department that assisted on the day of the accident and the days following by assisting with getting information and going along the possible routes of the fleeing motorcycle to see what video may have been available," Gittings said.

He also commended his deputies for their efforts, as well as those residents who provided tips and other information for the investigation.

"Many tips were inconclusive, but it is good to know that people still care enough to call and let us know of the possibility," Gittings said.
