NEW CUMBERLAND -- Autumn is upon the Ohio Valley, and the annual New Cumberland Fall Riverfest is helping to usher in the season with a weekend of activities.
This year's festival will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday with the Riverfest 5K Walk and Run, proceeds from which benefit Oak Glen High School athletics.
Mayor Will White is scheduled to welcome residents and visitors alike to the festival, which features 40 vendors and live entertainment along River Avenue, followed by a performance by the Oak Glen High School Band.
The Riverfest Arts Show, showcasing the works of numerous local artists, will be on display throughout the weekend.
Organizers also have planned pumpkin painting and bounce houses for area youth, as well as a Zorb running maze and axe throwing.
The annual car show will be set up from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, on the Fireman's Field.
Entertainment will include Kent Cox at noon, Michele's Dance Studio at 1:30 p.m., Easy Street Band at 3 p.m., Led Foot Lover at 5 p.m., and Eli and the Mojo Kings at 6:45 p.m., all leading up to a fireworks display.
Sunday's activities open up with a church service at 11 a.m., featuring music by Christian band Redwood.
The Little Miss New Cumberland Pageant will bring area youth to the stage from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by performances by the Express Your Talent Dance Group and the West Liberty Steel Drums.
