Former New Cumberland resident sentenced on sex charges
NEW CUMBERLAND – A former New Cumberland resident was sentenced Monday in connection with a series of sexually related charges, according to Hancock County Prosecuting Attorney Steven E. Dragisich.
Nathaniel Eugene Campbell, 19, entered guilty pleas to five charges on Sept. 8 in Hancock County Circuit Court. Campbell’s charges included one count of distribution and exhibiting of material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, two counts of soliciting a minor via computer, one count of employment or use of a minor to produce obscene matter, and one count of distribution and display to minor of obscene matter.
Campbell, on Monday, received a total sentence of between 9 ¾ years to 45 years as a result of the five charges.
According to Dragisich, the charges against Campbell resulted from an investigation led by Sgt. Scott Little of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, stemming from incidents which had occurred in New Cumberland with Campbell possessing “multiple images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his cellular telephone, utilized his computer to repeatedly entice, solicit, and manipulate female minors to provide him with photographs of themselves for his sexual gratification, used and offered money to a female minor to provide him with sexually explicit images of said minor, and offered to send a female minor sexually explicit images of him.”
As part of Campbell’s sentencing, he was ordered to serve two to 10 years for the charge of distribution and exhibiting of material, two to 10 years on each count of soliciting a minor via computer, 10 years for employment or use of a minor to produce obscene matter, and five years for distribution and display to a minor of obscene matter.
The sentences are to be served consecutively, according to Dragisich.
Dragisich and Assistant Prosecutor Herman D. Lantz represented the state in the case, with Campbell represented by Nicholas Yovich. The case was presided over by First Judicial Circuit Court Judge Jason A. Cuomo.
