Hancock County Parks and Recreation kicked off its calendar of community events Saturday with a taste of Easter and Wonderland as part of its Mad Hatter Scatter Fest held at the sports complex on Gas Valley Road. The event included an Easter egg hunt, appearances by the Mad Hatter and White Rabbit, and a variety of vendors and other booths, including a sensory deprivation tent organized by Hancock County Special Olympics. Other events planned include Ye Olde Medieval Fest on July 15 and Folklore Fest on Oct. 21. — Craig Howell
