WEIRTON – Area law enforcement has reported the Kroger store in Weirton is safe following reports of a bomb threat this morning.
According to Weirton Police Chief Charlie Kush, the city police department received a report of a bomb threat to the store at approximately 10 a.m. The store was evacuated, and Weirton police, with assistance from departments in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and the Weirton Fire Department, searched the building for close to two hours with no bomb found.
Store employees and customers were allowed back inside shortly after noon.
Kush, who confirmed a similar threat was made to the Kroger store in Steubenville, said the incident remains under investigation.
