CHESTER -- After nearly a month on the run, a Burgettstown, Pa., man was arrested Thursday in connection with the April 28 stabbing of a downtown Chester restaurant owner.
Joshua L. Atwood, 30, was arrested Thursday morning in Frankford Springs, Pa., a village located eight miles north of his hometown and near the Pavilion at Star Lake, according to Chester Police Chief Chuck Stanley.
Atwood is being held in Washington County, Pa., until his extradition to face charges of armed robbery and malicious assault in West Virginia sometime next week. According to a release from the Chester Police Department, Atwood was unable to post bond during his initial arraignment at the Washington County Courthouse.
Atwood allegedly had stabbed Jose Mocias-Onate, who is the owner of Crazy Donkey Mexican Cuisine, during a dispute over compensation.
Atwood had worked as a handyman for Mocias-Onate, allegedly grabbed money from the cash drawer at the restaurant during the argument and attempted to flee, stabbing the victim in his arm on his way out while retrieving a dropped firearm.
Mocias-Onate has been treated and released from a Pittsburgh hospital in the meantime, according to reports.
Atwood faces charges in Hancock County of armed robbery and malicious assault. His arrest was conducted by the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, Washington County Sheriff's Office and Hanover Township Police.
