By CRAIG HOWELL 1 min read

WEIRTON -- The summer season hasn't yet arrived, but Weirton is getting ready for the Independence Day holiday.

The annual Independence Day Parade, organized by the Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation, has been scheduled for July 1, beginning at 10 a.m., with a theme of "Weirton: American Made."

Applications to participate in the parade are available and being accepted.

"We're starting to get those little by little," noted Parks Programs Director Chris Krishak said.

Forms can be obtained at the Millsop Community Center, and the deadline to enter the parade is June 21.

Krishak is encouraging local organizations, schools, churches, businesses and other groups to participate.

On the day of the parade, participants are being asked to check in no later than 9 a.m. at the intersection of Virginia Avenue and Main Street.

For additional information, contact Krishak at (304) 797-5721.
