The Weirton community celebrated the nation’s birth a couple of days early, with festivities Saturday including the Weirton Independence Day Parade, organized by the Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation. It was topped off by an appearance by the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra at the Weirton Event Center, as part of its “Celebrate America!” tour, and a fireworks display provided by the City of Weirton. — Craig Howell
