Pack to run for West Virginia Treasurer

CHARLESTON - Larry Pack, a former lawmaker and current adviser to Gov. Jim Justice, is running to be West Virginia's next Republican state treasurer.
Pack announced his candidacy for treasurer in 2024 this morning on WV MetroNews Talkline with a campaign kickoff scheduled for later in the afternoon in Charleston.
Speaking by phone this morning, Pack said running for treasurer seemed like a natural way to continue his new career of public service to the state.
"It’s something my wife and I, we’ve been thinking about and praying about for a long time, trying to figure out where and what position I could serve the state at this time in our life," Pack said.
Pack is a retired businessman with decades of expertise in accounting and senior living. He founded Stonerise, a senior transitional care company with 17 facilities in West Virginia and Ohio. The company was sold last summer.
He also co-founded Pack Lambert and Burdette, an accounting firm that later merged with Suttle and Stalnaker. He lives in Charleston with his wife Lisa.
"I have a financial background," Pack said. "I’m a longtime CPA with a long career in business. So, financial statements and financial issues are something that I've always been attracted to. And I think the State Treasurer's Office is a very important office. It’s the office that oversees the taxpayer’s money. And I think that I could continue to build on what Treasurer Moore has done as far as his conservative principles."
Pack was elected as a Republican to the House of Delegates in 2020, representing parts of Charleston, South Charleston, St. Albans, Nitro and Dunbar. He was an assistant majority whip and served on multiple committees, including the House Judiciary and Health and Human Resources committees.
Pack resigned from the House last summer to become a senior adviser to Justice. He also is one of the two state representatives on the Republican National Committee.
