Students and staff from Weirton Elementary School, Thursday morning, honored veterans from the community with an assembly sponsored by the school's Related Arts Team. The school's students learned about Veterans Day and the six branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The assembly featured a performance by the school's bell choir, and veterans in attendance received cards made by students. The school also collected items to be sent to active service members. The veterans in attendance at the ceremony included Chuck Kar, Kevin Allen, Wesley Holloway, Cecil Holbrook, David Purks, Ron Boggess, Larry Knapp, Jeffery Hawkins, Jim Beeman, John Pappas, Lori Sovak, and Gary Maffii.
