Representatives of area churches, the City of Weirton and local organizations are organizing an effort to provide Christmas Eve takeout dinners to residents of Weirton's high-rise apartments and shut-ins from various churches. Meals, to include turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, gravy, a roll with butter, and pumpkin pie, will be distributed at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Among those contributing to and organizing the distribution are, in front from left, Jeanne Amidon of the Weirton Woman's Club, Salvation Army Capt. Gene Hunt, Rotary Club of Weirton Heights President Brandon Palmeri, Rotarian Brenda Mull, Weirton Assistant City Manager DeeAnn Pulliam, Rotary Vice President Melissa Veltri, and Dean Harris, and in back, Dean Makricostas and Hancock County Commissioner Jeff Davis. Contributions to the dinner have been made by All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, the Salvation Army, Weirton Woman's Club, Rotary Club of Weirton Heights, Hancock County Commissioner Jeff Davis, the City of Weirton, Wyngate Senior Living Community, and the Kroger Family of Companies. — Craig Howell
